Kamps was the first to get belated World Gold

Before Tasoev, there was Kamps.

The Doha World Championships +100kg final between Teddy Riner (FRA) and Inal Tasoev (AIN) was very controversial as the throw by Tasoev was not given a score. The IJF later corrected that and subsequently decided to give Tasoev a joint gold medal (with Riner). Although this is highly unusual, it has happened before. In the 2021 World Junior Championships +78kg final, Coralie Hayme (FRA) was given the win over Marit Kamp (NED) for a throw that was awarded a waza-ari. During an IJF conference after the event was over, it was decided that the waza-ari should be cancelled. Based on this, both judokas were subsequently declared joint gold medallists.
